Urban Mines develops sophisticated model to identify waste feedstock availability for new waste treatment plants
Working with Envirolink NW and a private sector partner, Urban Mines has developed a sophisticated computer model to quantify and map available feedstock for new or proposed waste treatment facility plants, including the ability to assess the impact of local competition, waste calorific value; changes in gate fees, waste pre-treatment, additional capacity over time, and the potential impact of imports.
The resultant interactive MS Access based model can accommodate different waste management & competition scenarios to reflect the market response and assess the affect on the availability of commercial, industrial and municipal wastes as feedstock.

A survey is being conducted to assess how producers dispose of aerosol waste and to find out how they would react to a new system of mobile treatment and disposal for aerosol waste which could potentially reduce costs as well as assist in the use of correct disposal options.
