Adnan Bayyat, Contemporary Designer
Ever thought of utilizing your surplus or redundant branded-products and waste materials to promote your business decorate your events and enhance your image?
"The Solution to Pollution" is a new initiative driven by an objective to encourage sustainable use of waste materials in a creative way. ....... that box of a thousand misprinted leaflets nestled 'neath your desk; that faulty batch of non-recyclable objects left unsold or even that ever growing pile of off-cuts cluttering the corner of your creative space. Adnan is the Chap for all your Scrap, renowned for turning all things trash to treasures that offer practical, affordable and often profitable solutions.
By utilizing the concept of recycling in his most recent and ongoing exhibition at the Manchester Triangle Shopping Centre, Adnan has brought to light the key issue of mass consumption - highlighting the detrimental effect we are having on the planet.
His work offers alternative ways of manipulating discarded mediums such as plastic bags, books, ring-pulls etc.
The first in his collection serves to revive the grace and gentility of ages past: "Lady Sainsbury's" - An Edwardian style garment and parasol, made entirely from Sainsbury's plastic carrier bags. Approximately one thousand bags were cut into strips tied and then crocheted to form this elegant number, which took him almost 2 weeks to complete. (Laced corset and a bustle adorn the rear.)
Adnan was recently commissioned to create two garments from the waste products of The Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre to be worn at their annual charity ball. Shrink wrap and cling film were in plentiful supply and thus he set to work crocheting approximately two and a half thousand meters, incorporating other mediums along the way.
Adnan's website, www.adnanbayyat.com is currently under construction and will open shortly.
